how will sounds shape the future car experience?

we supported bmw in number of research projects involving the voice user interface and accompanying ux/ui functional sounds.

 

HOW DOES THE BMW OF THE FUTURE SOUND IN IT'S INTERACTION WITH THE DRIVER?

What types of driver-car interactions will shape the future car experience? amp was chosen by BMW's Department of Innovation and Research to investigate these topics.
From building trust to limiting listener fatigue, our BMW projects involved the exploration of voice timbres and functional sounds. We have experimented with different future IPA (intelligent personal assistant) concepts and their general tone of voice. We have researched the different impacts of functional sounds in specific situations. amp has worked for BMW since 2011 (as winners of the Sound Logo Pitch, consultancy the Sound of BMWi and other projects). We have very deep knowledge of the brand, thanks to a joint workshop held with the BMW Brand & Customer Institute. We apply this knowledge to all sound-related projects with BMW.

Today's driver can't yet fully embrace the notion of an autonomous driving car. We are working with the BMW Group to accelerate the growth of this trusting relationship between driver and IPA of the future.

The BMW Group Research and Innovation Center, also known by its German abbreviation, FIZ, has been the technological heart of the company since it was opened in 1986. Some 9,200 people work here - developing vehicles and technologies of the future for BMW Group. All teams involved in product development across all areas of expertise are united under one roof. The FIZ has achieved the status of pacesetter in the automobile industry.

 

SOUND INTERFACES AND SOUNDS FOR UX/UI

The research we conducted was insightful - in particular, our investigation of the impact of sound on drivers in specific situations. We collected precious information on the connection between the brand and the functionality of UX/UI sounds as applied to cars.
